Born 4th Oct. 1949, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India.

Studied at Govt. College of Arts & Crafts Chandigarh.

5 Years Diploma in Clay Modelling and Sculpture from Govt. College of Art & Craft, Calcutta in 1973 with 87% marks.

Awarded college scholarship during session 1968-1969 at Chandigarh.

Won various prizes in Annual College Exhibitions in 1968 and 70 at Chandigarh, in 71, 72 and 73 at Calcutta.

Exhibited in 5th Open Air Sculpture Exhibition held at Calcutta in 1973.

Executed Sculpture NRITYA MUDRA (6') in Concrete for Purba Bharat Sanskritik Sammelan, Calcutta in Dec. 1973.

Participated in First International Sculpture Symposium held at Punjabi University, Patiala in Feb-Mar, 1980 and executed AHAM (6') Sculpture in steel.

Designed and executed a 10' fibre glass and concrete memorial at Nawanshahar in 1990 to commemorate the death of nineteen students who were killed in the school building collapse.

Exhibited in Punjab Lalit Kala Akadami and Zonal Academic Art Exhibitions.

Worked as Head, Department of Art & Craft teacher's Training, Dayanand Amarnath College of Education, Nawanshahar (Distt. Jalandhar) from Dec. 1974 to 83.

Set up colour photo processing laboratory - JAIN COLOR LAB at Ludhiana in 1983. Our motto was quality and not quantity. We started doing odd jobs in the lab and made a distinct identity. I undertook specialized assignments in photography i.e. Product Photography, Industrial Photography, Commercial Photography, Product Catalogues and Exhibition Posters for Big Industrial/Export Houses.

Worked as Designer in the Studio of Arihant Ceative Textiles, Gurgaon, a 100% Export Company exporting silk and woollen fabrics, with very elaborate embellishments & embroidery, to Fashion Designers and Chain Boutiques in Europe and other parts of the world, from 2005 to 08.

I have worked in almost all art mediums in my life. I used to paint, before switching over to sculpture in Art College at Chandigarh. I chose sculpture because it is three dimensional, all other art forms are two dimensional, which I thought needs proper training to understand the importance of that third dimension. I was lucky to have famous sculptors like ‘Padma Bhushan’ Sh. Chintamoni Kar and Sh. Sunil Paul as my mentors at Govt. College of Art & Craft at Calcutta. There I worked in different mediums like terra cotta, concrete, fibre glass, wood, stone and metal to master the craft. Photography is my passion, since my college days. As the portrait is common in all the mediums, it was natural to develop a skill to study and capture the character of one’s unique features, whether it is a person or a product. Commercial art has been my part time earning medium throughout these years. I treat all my previous works as my experience to start afresh in one direction and that is - PORTRAIT
